Entry: Marching to a different...YEP! ....drum. Aug 19, 2005

I have to admit it and it was no doubt obvious, at the time, the part of the annual schools athletics carnivals that I found least appealling was the marching competition, held at the beginning. My theory was that, after World War 2, many teachers had been soldiers and saw merit in instilling discipline through lots of standing at ease and at attention and marching in perfect step. I was always more for marching to a different drum and taking the road less travelled. :) :(

Sundays were too far away, that year. But out of that situation grew one of the best friendships that I have had for 37 years and still going strong, namely, with the principal of the school, in town, (51 kms away) and his family.
